    Toothpase can salvage your DVDs

Before you chuck those scratched DVD’s into the waste basket, here’s a small tip: try using toothpaste to clean the DVD’s surface. Just get a clean cloth, dip it into some warm water, and apply the toothpaste and gently scrub the disk in a downward motion. Don’t follow the circular lines.
Why not try it? You’ve got nothing to lose; you’re going to throw away the DVD anyway. At the very least, you may get to save the valuable data on your disk (or disks) and save them in new ones or in your hard drive. Remember that this is only a temporary solution, and you need to save and copy your data at once should this method work for you. Also, heavy and deep scratches on your DVD will render it beyond salvation, so the bes recourse is always to take care of your disks properly.
