  • lightscribelogoThe introduction of DVD-Lightscribe capable drives (developed and introduced by HP) has driven the previously expensive DVD disk prices with some PC/Laptop manufacturers offering them as part of their products OEM. Having tried out the technology, it does take quite sometime to do just one disk but it’s way better than sticking a gum label onto it. The average on my old laptop(HP DV6110) for a single disk was around 25 to 26 minutes for a few graphics pictures but the outcome was well worth the wait.

Time may come when the technology can develop colored labels as well and with improvements to the burning speed so they don’t take too much time. Currently, the labels are better for they don’t peel or fade and having been burned onto the disk itself, the graphics are quite sharp in greyscale. This addresses the problem of missing/mislabeled disks which is a common occurrence in the workplace and at home where important disks always seem to get lost. DVD Disks just got a bit better and look greater with the Lightscribe system which we would surely see more of in the times to come.
